Yesterday evening...
18:00 - My mum called to say that she was stuck in Leiden because there were no trains running to Utrecht. Could I please feed the cat? Off I went to feed the cat, only to find on arrival that a friendly neighbour had already taken care of that. So I drove home again. Time: 40 minutes.
21:00 - Mum called again. There would be no trains to Utrecht that evening (or so NS had announced), could I please come and pick her up in Leiden? So off I went again, to Leiden. In the mean time my mum, being the social person that she is, had been chatting with another lady who had to go to Woerden. Could I drop her off at Woerden station, please? So I did that too, adding 15 minutes. Total time: 2 hours, 10 minutes.
23:25 - Home again. Finally.
